2.1) the abuse or neglect of something or someone.

2.2) read about it in sources such as the child care center licensing guide.

2.3) as a childcare professional, it's my duty as a mandated reporter to be vigilant for signs of abuse or neglect. If I notice any signs, i am required to report it to child protective services.

2.2. How can you become familiar with the symptoms of child abuse, including physical, sexual, verbal and emotional abuse, and physical or emotional neglect?

Understand that these condition affect many parts of a persons life and that there are signs in many areas.

2.3. What do you need to do to follow state laws and community procedures that protect children against abuse and neglect?

You need to know that you MUST report abuse or neglect if you suspect it.

Observation is key in determining if a child is being abused. It is also important to have knowledge on what symptoms children express when they are being maltreated. Research and experience can help with this.

2.3. What do you need to do to follow state laws and community procedures that protect children against abuse and neglect?
If you see something say something. Don't let your fear stop you from helping a child.

Being aware of what the child says and their behavior, observation is key. 

2.3
See something, say something.  It is better to be safe than sorry. If you ar worried a child may being abused, then you should talk with other staff and report your concerns to the proper authorities.

2.1: Maltreatment is cruel or violent treatment of a living person or animal.

2.2: You can become familiar with symptoms through research and observation.

2.3: Keep a record of instances and events that occur, and report as soon as you have any reason to believe abuse is occurring whether its based on one event or a pattern of events.

2.1 cruel or violent treatment

2.2 do your research and know all the signs of abuse. observe carefully over time, making sure to report and document even small incidences to your program director to better establish yourself should you have to report

2.3 Keep your record of even the smallest of instances and report to the needed parties once you think you have tangible evidences.
