2.1: What types of play materials, equipment and activities should you provide for children? What is needed in an outdoor environment?

2.2: What are some of the special requirements for infants and toddlers in an early learning environment?

2.3: Is it necessary to have a daily schedule and routine for children? If so, why?

1: You need to provide materials to exercise all the motor skills a child needs: blocks, paints, scissors, puzzles, books, ect. You need to have: scooters, tricycles, slides, water and sand tables, swings, ect.
2: Mirrors, ramps, safe places to climb up and down, simple things to exercise their motor skills.
3: Yes, so they know what is going on each day and aren't confused on what they have to do.

2.2 Special requirements for infants and toddler in an early learning environment are consideration for toys that children will not choke on, areas for changing diapers and toileting and dressing, areas for dramatic play, areas to hang up coats, climbing materials, areas for children to explore and crawl, ample supervision, toys that children can put in their mouth, adequate lighting, colorful objects for children to look at, areas for eating, areas for sleeping or resting.

2.3 It is necessary to have a daily schedule and routine for children. This is necessary because children need structure and do better when they know what is going to happen and children thrive on predictability. On the flip side, you do want to cause excessive confusion for children in the learning environment.

Discussion 2: Stimulate your thinking

2.1: What types of play materials, equipment and activities should you provide for children? What is needed in an outdoor environment?

You should provide materials that help development for all areas. Outdoor equipment should provide a safe place for children to play.

2.2: What are some of the special requirements for infants and toddlers in an early learning environment?

Special requirements are a place for playing, a place for sleeping, a place for eating, and making sure you have no choking hazards in the classroom.

2.3: Is it necessary to have a daily schedule and routine for children? If so, why?

It is necessary to have a daily schedule.
