The brain begins development in the prenatal stage, then develops through a combination of nature and nurture. It grows to fit its environment by synapses to control the mind, body, feelings, memory, and language that are only strengthened by use. Development is heavily dependent on the quality of the relationship between the infant and caregiver.

  • Brain development starts before babies are even born. When babies are born their brains contain over 100 billion brain cells. Brains are developed through a combination of nature and nurture. Naturally, a brain will grow to fit its environment as determined by its' synapses. Synapses send brain impulses to control body, mind, feelings, memory and language. Brains are wired to "use it or lose it".

Caregivers are responsible for nurturing the brain by creating loving and healthy relationship and getting to know a child's temperament.
