Professionally communicating information to parents includes thinking of and respecting families’ perspectives, being positive and specific, being descriptive without judgement, acknowledging difference in views, supporting parental competence, and being open to family emotions. Remember you are not the only one who cares for their child.

The backbone of professionally communicating to parents is proper documentation. If you have examples to back up what you're saying about a child's development and then listen properly to the parent's point of view so they know you're on their side few problmes arise.
