Discussions 2: Stimulate your thinking.

2.1. What are some of the challenges of providing nutritious snacks and meals for children?
Some of the challenges are planning a balanced menu that includes Vitamin C every day and Vitamin A at least 3 times per week. Other challenges include making exceptions for food allergies, making sure children do not share food, and keeping cold foods at 45 degrees or below while keeping hot foods at 140 degrees or above.

2.2. Most children's settings do not provide opportunities for children to participate in the recommended 60 minutes of structured and 60 minutes of unstructured physically active play. Why is this?
This is because of a variety of factors, including weather, time constraints due to child/staff ratios and available outdoors space, and insufficient planned time for outdoors activities.

2.3. Very few of us get enough sleep. How can you help children in your care get enough rest?
By teaching them about the importance of rest with fun activities and games during group time, by having the children engage in calming activities before nap time, and by scheduling plenty of time for nap time.
