2.1. Who needs to be licensed in Washington State?

2.2. Where can I find the WACs for a center? WACs for a family home child care center?

2.3. What is my responsibility as a staff member in a program in terms of knowing the WACs?

According to the Child Care Center licensing handbook, "Individuals, entities and agencies that provide care for children must be licensed unless specifically
exempt under RCW 43.215."

The rules for a center are found in chapters 43.215 RCW. The rules for a family home child care center are found in chapters 170.296A.

Staff should be familiar with the WACs governing their type of center and knowing where in the WAC to find the rules and regulations for their type of center. We are legally obligated to be aware of the state rules and regulations that govern our facilities.
