Executive functioning is the brain's ability to take in information, interpret the information and make decisions based on the information. Toxic Stress is prolonged exposure to harmful/abusive situations or people that can cause permanent damage to the development of the child's brain.

Executive functioning is what gives us the ability to do multiple things at once or multi task. This is what also allows us to filter what is important and what is not and filter through it in the moment.

Toxic stress is prolonged negative expriances without being helped, like abuse this can have life long lasting effects on children

Executive functioning is the brains "air traffic control" or the functions of the Working Memory, Inhibitory Control and Mental Flexibility. These abilities help us develop into the persons we will be come. Toxic stress is any prolonged negative experiences that are not taken care of in a reasonable amount of time, such as any kind of abuse/neglect, severe poverty, caretaker mental health problems or addictive issue, and has lasting and permanent affect on a child's brain.

Executive functioning is responsible for paying attention, organizing, starting tasks and finishing, understanding different points of view, regulating emotions, and self monitoring. Toxic stress is a kind of stress that weakens the brain and disrupt healthy development. Abuse, neglect, mental illness, violence, and chaotic enviroments can trigger toxic stress.
