What do all young children need in order to thrive?

Children need:
A safe place to learn
To not be hungry
Have pride in themselves and their family
Make mistakes and not be embarrassed by it

Children learn best whenever they are healthy, safe and not hungry. Plus the child's environment learns through environment so that if the environment is positive and promotes learning with multiple activities giving those children a choice. If the environment is negative the children's attitude will also be negative.

It is important that children's environment is social and emotional safe and nurturing. Children learn best through self-directed activities and through play. As educators it is our job to make sure children learn and thrive in each developmental domain.

I agree that a child will learn so much when they in a happy, positive atmosphere and full stomach. Children learning capabilities are impacted greatly when in a stressful negative atmosphere and are hungry.
